Abstract :
Analysis of the new choir built in the 13th c. reveals that it was built in two phases; the first from east to west, the second from west to east, any minor problems of alignment being resolved in the fourth bay. Discusses how this new space may have been used liturgically, and goes on to consider the choir's architectural affiliations. Concludes that the choir was begun in, or shortly before, 1233, by a group of masons from Lincoln Cathedral, and dates the second phase of work to between ca.1240 and ca.1248. ;
