Abstract :
Chronicles the development of the program and concept for the Cathedral of Learning at the university, focusing on the example of the Romanian room. The purpose of the nationality rooms in the skyscraper was to represent various ethnic identities to the American public. Discusses the political context within which the Romanian room's design and decoration were conceived, looking in particular at its use of mosaic decoration, stone carved architectural elements, and folk designs in the carved wood furniture. Notes that the sources for these elements were in Romanian religious and palace architecture. ;
