Abstract :
A detailed analysis of the architecture (11th-16th cs.) and art (sculpture, painting, stained glass, furnishing, liturgical objects) of the church of SS. Pietro e Paolo, Crevoladossola. Hypothetically reconstructs the Romanesque church (11th-12th cs.), renovated (15th-16th cs.) in a Gothic style. Architects active at the church included Ulrich Ruffiner (1518-1525) and Lorenzo Arrigoni (after 1521), responsible also for sculptural ornament. The chief patron of the early 16th c. renovations was Paolo della Silva, who had a funerary chapel for his family built in the crypt area. Support for the renovations also came from other nobles and from the community. (Second in a series). ;
