Abstract :
In the 11th c., the Spanish Church was required to abandon the Mozarabic liturgy in favour of Roman texts. Examines liturgical manuscripts contemporary with this change in order to see how the new liturgy was introduced and received. The Silos corpus held in the British Library, London is the subject of investigation. These manuscripts are set alongside three missals from Spanish libraries, including the notable Missal of San Facundo. Analyses the content, presentation and style of these little-known manuscripts, and builds up a view of the textual and visual strategies employed in implementing liturgical change. ;
