Abstract :
Analyzes the remains of wall paintings found at the abbey of Fossanova during the excavations of the refectory. The earlier phase, probably associated with the late antique and early medieval occupation of the building, consists of imitation marble revetment.s to wall paintings located in southern Lombardy, particularly S. Michele at Capua.s not confirmed, however, by the occupational sequence defined by analysis of the ceramic sample recovered from the excavations.f activity, consisting of painted imitation textile hangings, is more securely located in the mid-11th c., based on comparisons with fragments from San Vincenzo al Volturno from the first half of the 11th c. ;
