Abstract :
Excavations 1970-1973 recovered the ruins of a large monastery with a basilica on the Sea of Galilee's eastern shore. Three main settlement periods were identified. The earliest, from the late 5th to the early 6th c., marked the foundation of the monastery and basilica. During the second period (585-614) the basilica underwent several alterations. The third and final period, which lasted until the late 7th or early 8th c. was marked by the destruction wreaked by the Persian invasian. ;
