Surveys a series of exhibitions seen, with one exception, in New York: Frantisek Vobecky: photomontages 1935-1938 (Ubu Gallery), featuring the work of the Czech avant-garde artist and some of his surrealist colleagues; Pasted pictures: collage and abstraction in the 20th century (Knoedler & Company); Marsden Hartley: drawings (Kraushaar Galleries, then the Heckscher Museum of Art, Huntington); and C.R.W. Nevinson: the twentieth century (New Haven, Yale Center for British Art). ;
