Abstract :
Discusses women's entry into landscape design, which could be regarded as harmonious with their domestic identity. Notes women's changing educational opportunities from private colleges in the 1830s through admittance into Harvard's Graduate School of Design during the Second World War. Also discusses how park design, preservation, and planning provided employment for landscape architects, especially under government programs of the 1930s; private firms and their projects; and the relationship of women to the ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects). ;
