Abstract :
Takes off from the 1970s historicization of projects involving narrative and space in order to contextualize recent installation projects. Focuses on the work of Joseph Santarromana, which involves video, still photography, computer technologies, and his own and his friends' bodies. Aims to illuminate Santarromana's works by placing them in historical trajectories of interests and to come to a greater understanding of the modes of thought that have served to locate such works in discourse and define their social and aesthetic/phenomenological impact. Insists that installation art must be considered in relation to its conceptual foundations in minimalism, body art, and conceptualism. Considers situaton aesthetics. ;
