Abstract :
Catherine Lord discusses her 1994 work with Millie Wilson in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the service of a site-specific work for the organization Site Santa Fe. The pair was to find 50 to 100 individuals who 'lived outside the institution of heterosexuality' and borrow from them an object of personal significance, entirely of their choosing, that they had not themselves made, for an installation, Something borrowed. Further discusses the 1995 installation in the Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe. Features discussion of the pair's search in the state archives, and relates history of Matilde Cox Stevenson among the Zuni. ;
