- Examines the shortcomings of the neoliberalist global economy in which the growth of the stock market and spread of free trade have proven ineffective in addresssing the ongoing economic and cultural inequities in the post-colonial era. Identifies traces of imperialism, racism, and nationalism in current ideologies of culture and discusses the role of international art exchanges, such as the biennial, which serve to reinforce outmoded notions of 'otherness' and western elitism. Validates these trends through commentary on German reunification and the War in Kosovo. ;
