- During the four centuries Denmark and Norway were in a union several monuments were erected in Denmark to celebrate the joint kingdom. Particularly from the 17th c. the Danish kings wished to make visible in architecture and monuments the historical legitimacy of the power of the Danish-Norwegian kingdom. ;
