- Examines the popularity of the Jewish model in 19th-c. Paris. Recounts the history of one Jewish model, Joséphine Marix, who posed for the figure of Glory in Paul Delaroche's mural Hemicyle (1841; Paris, Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts). Analyzes the vulgarization of the modeling profession that took place at the end of the century, accompanied by a rise in anti-Semitism and misogyny. ;
