- Surveys the illustrations, scientific content and the publishing and critical history of Poli's Testacea utriusque Siciliae (Parma, 1796-1821), a sumptuously illustrated three-volume study of mollusks. Observes that Poli chose the best Italian publisher (i.e., Giambattista Bodoni) of his day, and that the work was the most visually elaborate scientific publication produced in Italy during the 18th c. ;
