- Six critics review the new galleries (opened 2001) at the Te Papa Museum (Wellington) highlighting contemporary art works, including those by Maori artists. Some contributing authors criticize the museum's curatorial policies regarding exhibition content and display in the new spaces, while others applaud its new emphasis on the visual arts and its funding by the national government. Other contributors note the ongoing need to represent the multicultural heritage of New Zealand to an increasingly disparate art audience. ;
