- Examines the status of comics, or manga, in Tokyo and Berlin, and discusses how this art form shapes-and is shaped-by the culture of each city. Argues that, while Tokyo far outstrips Berlin in its production and consumption of comics, comics in both cities provide important insights into residents' interactions with their immediate localities and their experiences of globalization. ;
