- Excavations at Rocchicella near Mineo (prov. of Catania) revealed pottery datable to the late 9th-early 10th cs. Cooking utensils and other unpainted wares are discussed that shed light on the process of transformation of Byzantine pottery production during the first phase of the Islamic conquest of the region. Also examines forms and technical characteristics. ;
