Abstract :
Hypothetically reconstructs a carved marble altar frontal out of a group of fragments in the Museo arcivescovile, Ravenna, and on the comparative basis of a similar frontal in the cathedral (Assunta) of Parma. Both frontals show crosses surmounting globes in niches enframing a doorway, with doves and lambs above. Dates both works to the 6th c. and suggests that they were produced in the same (Ravenna) workshop after the same design. Observes that in imagery and style, the two frontals recall Byzantine models. ;
