- An archaeological watching brief observed the expected traces of urban occupation from late Saxon to post-medieval times in Bedford. The most significant discovery was a large ditch of probable 9th-c. date, interpreted as the northern boundary of the early burh. Explores some of the wider implications of this interpretation. ;
