- Considers the cast bronze portrait medal of Cecilia Gonzaga executed by Pisanello (1447; London, Victoria & Albert Museum). Argues that this is the first medallic portrait of a contemporary woman made since antiquity. Examines the circumstances of the medal's commission. ;
