Discusses the projects for the tomb of Julius II, originally intended for S. Peter's. Draws upon evidence from Vasari and Condivi, as well as from two surviving drawings (in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Uffizi, Florence) to comment upon the iconography of the monument in its various forms. ;
