- Discusses how text, music, and visual imagery interact in the Battle of Anesin (turn of the 13th-14th c; London, British Libray, MS Roy. 20.A.XVII) to effect a parody of contemporary (13th-14th-c) literature celebrating battles (specifically, the 1214 Battle of Bouvine). Compares the work with the Roman de la rose and the Roman de Fauvel, and suggests that such a comparison supports the identification of the parodic intent and pacifist message of the Battle of Anesin. ;
