- Discusses one phase in the construction of Bartolomeo Ammannati's Neptune Fountain in the Piazza della Signoria, Florence, in the light of unpublished documents held at the Getty Research Institute. Publishes excerpts, which demonstrate that the artist faced numerous delays and mishaps, as well as continuous pressure from his patron. The letters chronicle Ammannati's involvement in the procurement and transportation of marble for the project from Seravezza and Carrara. ;
