Reviews the exhibition JoÎlle de La Casinière: absolument nécessaire (Berlin, cory nielsen, 22 Apr-20 May 2006), which featured early video works from the 1970s and 1980s as well as her 'Tablotins'-hybrid visual poetry and collages created with site-specific objects from the artist's nomadic life. Addresses the performative aspects of communication represented in de La Casinière's works. ;
