Provides new information about the little-known Flemish painter of the S. Lucasgilde (Antwerp), Jacques de L'Ange, adding to the author's first discussion of the artist in 1994. Discusses the Caravaggesque realism of de L'Ange's paintings, focusing on his use of light and darkness. Discusses his relationship with Jan Cossiers and Matthias Stom, and his sojourn in Napoli. Offers new attributions to his oeuvre. ;
