- Explores the origin of the imagery in an unusual 13th-c. miniature in the psalter (London, Society of Antiquaries, MS 59) depicting a cross which flowered at the moment of Christ's death. Describes numerous elements of the iconography. Suggests that the depiction of the flowering cross as a living plant might be related to legends regarding the Tree of Life. ;
