- Addresses the collections of artefacts originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) which were accumulated by the British in the 19th c. Focuses on the collection formed by Sir James Emerson Tennent, one of the key figures in the British colonial administration in Ceylon, who published Ceylon: an account of the island, physical, historical and topographical (1859), which was illustrated by a number of artists who were resident on the island, such as Hippolyte Sylvaf and Andrew Nicholl. Discusses the furniture and art commissioned by Tennent there. ;
