Abstract :
Examines the religious philosophy behind the construction of the cathedral, built 1913-1919, which was designed by Ralph Adams Cram under the patronage of Raymond Pitcairn. The cathedral was built for a community of Swedenborgians, who used the project and the building itself to demonstrate their religious ideals. At the same time, the cooperative manner in which the construction of the cathedral was managed conformed to arts and crafts ideals of the day. Discusses not only the architecture, but also decorative aspects of the cathedral, in particular the stained glass windows. ;
