Abstract :
Considers both the extent to which France really affected the artistic tastes of Polish travellers and, in the case of architects, the process of architectural reorientation. Also considers the extent to which the employment in Poland of French architects influenced the work of local architects, as well as to what degree French architectural publications actually propagated a French architecture as opposed to merely helping to spread Neo-classical ideals in architecture. Looks at the role of King Stanislaus Augustus in changing the Rococo image of Polish art and the development of Neo-classical art in Europe as a whole. ;
